I’m pretty excited.  I got a new camera.  The first thing I did was took a picture or two.

This is a 30 second exposure, in which I occupied the frame for 10 seconds and quickly moved.

The room is pretty dark, but there was some light in the room from a string of christmas lights at the ceiling.  The red tint means that the camera had very little light to work with….

I was sitting in my room and I turned and took this picture.  I swear that there was no one there when the picture was taken!  It way my great grandfather’s birthday and I think he was saying hi!

Sound familiar?  Well, I’ll bet that if I posted this picture on a “real” ghost site, people would believe that it was real.  People would believe it’s a ghost, because a) he’s transparent and b) I said he was…

It’s been a while since I took this, but if I remember correctly, I took it with a 10 second exposure in a relatively dark room.  I had my friend stand in the hallway for 5 seconds, and then quickly duck into a room off the side of the hallway.  The remaining 5 seconds of capture recorded the things that were behind him, rendering him transparent.

Also, remember that just because someone posts a picture claiming that it’s true, doesn’t mean that it is.  Some people are liars.  You have no idea who the person is nor what their motivation is.  I would love to be able to say, without a doubt that there’s a real ghost picture out there.  But it’s going to take a lot of very scientific process to prove that to me.

This process, by the way, is called prolonged or extended exposure.  There are other things to look for in a prolonged exposure photo.  Check for “hot spots”.  If there’s any light in the photo at all, it will get really white.  You can see it in the photo above on the wall closest to the camera.  You can also see it in some of the photos below..

Maybe you could compare my result to these famous photos (Click to see a bigger version):This photo was taken in pretty low light, without a flash. You see the hot spots from the windows, and side walls. Any photo taken in this room, without a flash, would require a prolonged exposure, or it would be very dark when developed. Anyone moving in the room when the photo was taken would look exactly like this “ghost”. It’s a very cool photo, though…Same as the last. You see the hot spots on the shiny sun and the windows above. No flash again. Not as dark in this room. It’s illuminated from windows to the right. The “ghost” is still a victim of prolonged exposure. Poor guy probably walked around the corner and ruined the photographer’s shot. Photographer made him a ghost..that’ll show him!

Ah, Freddy Jackson…That’s the “ghost” here. He showed up behind this guy and they made up a story for him. Since we have no idea who any of these people are, the story is impossible to verify. Plus it’s a prolonged exposure again. Look at the faces. They’re all hot spots. The guy that “freddy” is hiding behind….IS FREDDY! The guy moved during a prolonged exposure when photography was pretty new. This photo would have required everyone to stand PERFECTLY still for 15 or more seconds. Looks like “freddy” couldn’t manage that…OR, alternatively, someone has superimposed an image of Christopher Walken behind him…I’m really torn between these two explanations.

Dark Pub, Early Photography, Everyone knows to stand COMPLETELY STILL for the 15 or more seconds it takes for the picuture to be recorded…except Donald Drunkard, who was standing in the picture and decided that he had a pressing need to visit the restroom about midway…so off he went…and now we have a ghost…

There is no reliable evidence of the existence of ghosts.  None.  Sure it’s hard to get reliable evidence.  You’re dealing with a very skeptical group of people: People who require scientific evidence.  If you can’t provide it, then you’re video/photo is just another fake.  Here’s a few videos which hope to provide us with “proof”.  They fail.

The Ghost Car

 The announcer doesn’t even make an attempt to provide any logical explanation…seems to think the only logical explanation is that someone supernatural is driving…Here’s the transcript:

We’ve seen how strange things can get at night.  Well, things are about to get a whole lot stranger. This MYSTERIOUS driver tricks cops into thinking he’s about to pull over.  Then all HELL breaks loose.  (The car has simply pulled to the right so that it can make a u turn, which it does.)  The officers watching this tape get only a quick glimpse of the man behind the wheel.  It’s the last look they’ll get! (Heading into woo woo territory) For a moment it appears that the driver and his car have DISAPPEARED IN THIN AIR! (Who does it appear this way to? I can see the car’s taillights fairly clearly.  Having successfully pulled off his u-turn the driver had accelerated and put some distance between himself and the cops.  Pretty standard car chase stuff.  Cue spooky music) But in the blink of an eye the driver comes into view again (Are you kidding me?  There’s an edit.  The cops caught up.)  This time he tries to outrun the police, rather than JUST VANISH.  (Because he vanished before?)  His moves are still baffling to the police as he swerves all over the road, driving LIKE A MAN POSSESSED. (He’s simply trying to lose the cop.) And just when he’s really thrown the cops for a loop, he gets back on the straightaway, showing off a seemingly SUPERNATURAL SPEED. (The tape is sped up at this point…cuz the driver didn’t really go a supernatural speed, unless the cops were going a supernatural speed…cuz they were keeping up with him.) In just a moment, he’s going to make a turn directly INTO THE TWILIGHT ZONE. (No…he’s not) Watch! (the police car drives up to a wildly waving fence which is suddenly between the cops and their suspect.  The suspect’s headlights fade into the distance.) The fence at the end means no way out…OR DOES IT?  Even watching it again, cops are unable to make sense of it (because they’re really, really dumb cops?) All they see is an intact fence and nothing more than the vanishing tail lights of what the Garden City PD has come to call THE GHOST CAR!!

It’s pretty simple what actually happened.  The car went under the fence.  The fence probably scratched the crap out of the car.   The crooks were probably as surprised as the cops when they managed to miss the posts and just hit chain.  Good for them.  Now they’re known as THE GHOST CAR!!

The ghost in the room

This is a blatant manufacture…The film maker is lying.  Simple as that. Why are you filming with nightshot? There’s a light on in the next room. So there is electricity. There is a light switch there. Turn the light on. You can’t because you’re trying to film a fake ghost video… Why do you turn around and go back into the room? It’s so fake it makes me want to cry.

This photo has been making the rounds for a while.  I could go off on a multitude of reason’s why this is fake…but I’ll let someone else do it this time…oh…you’ll like this:
